Дировцы опять замочили рекордное погружение на своих rb80... в пещере "R-Tunnel" к уже имевшимся 7 км прибавили еще 2... это называется у них викенд рекорд дайвинг больше суток под водой... эх...

We are pleased to announce the successful completion of one of the biggest dives in the history of the WKPP. Thanks to a massive team effort, the lead exploration team of Jablonski and McKinlay explored the new "R-Tunnel" cave out past 23800'/7254m, adding 7640'/2328m of new line in the process. Jarrod and Casey were both using Halcyon RB80 rebreathers during the dive, as well as RB80s rigged as deco breathers once they returned to the basin. Total time in water was over 25 hours.

Casey McKinlay's Update:

Huge thanks to everyone that assisted with this past weekend’s record dive. The goal was to push north and west from the Wakulla side for a connection between R-Tunnel and Leon Sinks. Jarrod and I gave it everything we had and then some but the cave refused to give it up despite adding 7,640ft in some of the most incredible cave discovered to date in the WKP. The cave stayed large and deep as we worked our way upstream; first west, northwest, north and eventually breaking it open into massive conduit bearing northeast. We believe we worked our way around a large collapse of some sort and are back on track to intersect Leon Sinks somewhere downstream of Turner Sink. Along the way we observed multiple leads, parallel conduits, tannic tunnels and a 2,000ft section containing milky white water, abundant crayfish and bacteria covered floors. We eventually tied off in massive, deep, clear conduit with noticeable flow. Todd Kincaid has the data and is updating the map this week.

The dive:
Bottom Time – 580 minutes at 270ft
Decompression – 15.5 hours
Total Run Time – 25.5 hours
Exploration – 7,640ft added
Total Distance from Wakulla Springs – 23,810ft

The goal of the dive was to connect the systems and update the map as to the specific locations of the cave conduits. The map data is then used by the State of Florida as part of their land use and land acquisition process to protect the water sources feeding Wakulla Springs. 23,810ft from Wakulla Springs exceeded our 20,000ft May, 2006 push into Wakulla’s Q-Tunnel and firmly establishes a new cave penetration record for the WKPP.

The entire team should be proud of a challenging, yet exciting weekend where everyone pulled together and adapted as needed to get the job done. Running a 30 hour operation takes a great deal of preparation and Todd Leonard along with the entire support and setup crew did an outstanding job. Each team member shares in the success and I was glad to see everyone refocus and come back strong after the May 19 dive at Turner. You guys are the best.

The divers of the Woodville Karst Plain have made the connection between the Leon Sinks cave system along the southern edge of Leon County (Tallahassee), Florida, and the Wakulla Springs Cave System. It is the realization of over 17 years of focused exploration by the WKPP, along with almost 50 years of exploration by other teams and individual divers. The implications for water conservation and springs protection in north Florida are enormous. In addition to the dye tracing, we now have proof that the sink holes on the southern edge of metropolitan Tallahassee are directly connected to the outflowing spring at Wakulla.

The exploration team of Jarrod Jablonski and Casey McKinlay departed Turner Sink at 10am on Saturday morning and traveled 11,200ft downstream to a massive junction room to search for a side tunnel that might connect to the R-Tunnel passageway leading to Wakulla Springs. They located an opening and explored 1,220ft of new passageway before discovering our exploration line coming the other way. The dive was 250 minutes followed by 10 hours of decompression. The team surfaced at 1am on Sunday morning.

The combined length of the cave systems is approximately 28 miles. The distance from Turner Sink to Wakulla Springs is approximately 7 miles at an average depth of 270ft. The dive was accomplished with Halcyon RB80 rebreathers, Gavin Scooters, and the dedicated support of an amazing team of divers, scientists, researchers, and surface support. This is a tremendous accomplishment for the WKPP and for underwater cave exploration. We expect to have a formal name for the combined cave system shortly.

The combined cave system:
Among the top 12 longest caves in the United States and the top 60 worldwide – wet or dry
Ranks #4 in the world for longest underwater cave and #1 in the United States

Очередной рекорд погружения на ребризерах в пещеры. Теперь это глубочайшее погружение на ребризере в пещере в холодной воде. Вот что пишут итальянцы...

Gigi Casati team announcement. Vrelo cave at Une springs Croatia expedition

The 31st of July with a dive begun at 12:20 and ended at 17:15 in the Vrelo cave at the springs of the river Une in Croatia.

Gigi Casati (Lecco Italy) has reached -205 meters setting a new world record for cold water (Around 9-10 C) rebreather cave diving. Total penetration has been around 280 meters.

The Vrelo cave after this exploration is now the deepest spring cave in the Balcans.

In the dive Gigi Casati was using an Aquatek VOYAGER rebreather and a bail-out open circuit decompression line with different gas mixes.

The team was composed by:
Alan Kovacevic (Priliminary reconesance) , Alen Milosevic, Alessandro Fantini, JJ Bolanz (topo), Lorenzo Del Veneziano (photos), Luigi Casati, and Tihomir Kovacevic with his club DDISKF.

Sponsors:
Coltri, Giosub, LMNT, Parisi, Utengas.

The expedition will have a total duration of 10 days and is still ongoing while I post this news.
